Once a Mustang, always a Mustang
Dear Alumni,
Summer is finally here and for most of us it's none too soon. Denver was hit with some of the longest lasting snow that I can remember and it seems that across the nation the same strange weather patterns were being talked about. Hope that you all faired well this winter no matter what the weather brought.
Congratulations to the Class of 2007 as you join our elite group of Alumni. Please keep in touch. Let us know where you are and what you are doing. Remember to register your information on the Mullen web site. We hope to see you back on campus for a game, or a play or a visit. As you continue your life journey, we wish you all the best and will keep you in our prayers.
Who can think of graduates without remembering all our wonderful parents? When I meet Alumni eventually the conversation will turn to the subject of their parents and the parents' of their friends. They share stories of the groups of parents that were a true and visible presence on the campus. Our Alumni are precious to us but where would we be without our wonderful parents. The support that parents have given the school is what has kept the doors open. Parents make the initial commitment through selection, tuition and follow it with a multitude of donations and sweat equity. No matter what there is always a sacrifice made to send your child to Mullen. It may be driving the old family car a few more years, taking a second job or skipping the family vacation. Your parents may have been the ones who made costumes, put in sporting fields, installed lights, put on dances and gift-gathering parties or the ones who served refreshments at conferences, flipped burgers at the freshman barbeque or worked bingo. Parents are the backbone of our community and we hope they remain involved after their children have graduated.
To all the Alumni who still have their folks living, give them a hug and thank them for wanting the best for you.
Hoping to see you soon,
Lauri Simington Echer

** Please be aware that Mullen has contracted with Harris Connect to put together an Alumni Directory (the last one that they did for us was in 1996). Harris Connect is a legitimate company that is to keep all information confidential and used only for the directory. The benefit to Mullen is that we are able to update our database in order to stay in contact with our Alumni; we receive no money from Harris. The downside of the project is that Harris publishes a wonderful book that is quite pricey for you to buy; you are under no obligation to purchase a directory.**
